STANDARDS FOR EVIDENCE

ICOCinvestigation.com will not post evidence that does not meet the following standards:

Documents. We will post any ICOC documents acquired, provided there is no reason to suspect the authenticity of said document. Internal documents such as administrative policies, salary models, balance sheets, budgets, etc. will be scanned and posted in .pdf format, as well as any official church publications that are relevant to this site, such as copies of LA Story that speak to financial matters.

Web Pages. From time to time, ICOC entities post (or have posted) articles of interest on their various websites. When re-posting such articles here, we will show an .html copy of that web page where practical, along with a link to the original page. But where such pages are not currently available at the original sites, we may post copies along with links to Internet archives or caches where possible. In the event of an excerpt that is not available in any of these formats, we will post an excerpt in a simple text format only where we do not have reason to suspect the authenticity of the article.

Personal Statements. We will post no written personal statements unless those statements are signed under oath and notarized. (Such a statement is called an affidavit.) This means that the person making the statement is not only testifying that the statement is true, but that he is willing to have his name publicly associated with the statement. Further, we will not post statements that do not represent the first-hand knowledge of those making the statements.

Anonymous Statements. Anonymous informants have been exceedingly helpful in this investigation to date as they have presented a great deal of compelling evidence of wrongdoing and cover-up. Indeed, some of what was first received anonymously, has subsequently been documented on this site as a result of informed investigation. But while this evidence helps us to know what to go digging for, we will not post anything that doesn’t come from someone willing to make a sworn statement under his own name. We continue to welcome emails, letters, or phone calls from anonymous informants, while we also ask for people of courage to stand up and tell what they know, using their own names.

Analysis. This site invites critical and un-acrimonious analysis of ICOC financial matters. We realize that one of the greatest difficulties of members and former members alike is in "connecting the dots". Therefore, we seek to shed light upon various ICOC inconsistencies and misbehaviors, suggesting viable theories or suspicions as to causes or motives. All analysis chosen will be marked as "editorial" so as not to confuse opinion with fact. However, no analysis will be accepted that does not make frequent reference to established facts, and we aim to select analyses that make frequent use of hyperlinks to source material in order to maintain a high level of credibility.

Quotes. Quotes of ICOC leaders and employees will be used freely where there is no reason to suspect their authenticity. Whenever possible, notations will be made as to the source and date of the quote, and hyperlinks will be included.

Recordings. Recordings of sermons, statements, and conversations will be used where practical, provided there is no reason to suspect their authenticity or the legality of their use.
